Karen Handel Resigns from Komen Foundation
Both Gawker and Jezebel are covering Karen Handel’s resignation pretty beautifully (and Erin Gloria Ryan definitely wins the “best news title of the day” award in my book).
It’s going to be interesting to see how the general media covers the resignation, though. Handel was obviously trying to gain some sympathy points by publicly refusing her potential severance package, and someone on Jezebel commented that could also be done to avoid signing a non-disclosure agreement, which would make sense.
The worst thing out of all of this, though? Planned Parenthood still isn’t being shown for what it is. I would have loved to see a major media outlet write an article about how the public image conservatives have given Planned Parenthood is completely wrong. It’s portrayed as some sort of abortion factory, which couldn’t be further from the case. I’m absolutely pro-choice, but the public image of Planned Parenthood is patently false.
