The Story of a Suicide
tylercoates:
I already posted a link to this article this morning, but I implore you to read Ian Parker’s piece about Tyler Clementi’s suicide and the impending trial of his roommate, Dharun Ravi. It took me about five hours to read it, not just because it was long but because I was at work and it was so upsetting that I couldn’t read it too long at a time. This is extremely powerful stuff and...

kh10ekardashian-deactivated2012 asked: I'm not really liking a lot of the changes A.J. has been doing to Gawker, I see them working positively in a place like Deadspin, Jalopnik, or Gizmodo - but he's going in a totally different direction than what the core Gawker-ites want and are used to from the site. I think in the end it'll just end up alienating an already frustrated group of loyal commentariat/visitors.

Taxing the Rich
Here’s one thing that I just don’t get: why do so many conservatives feel it’s such a burden on the economy to tax the rich? The rich don’t fucking spend that money. It doesn’t go back in the economy. It doesn’t benefit anyone for the rich to have a lower effective tax rate than the middle-class and poor.

Running Injuries
I’ve been running for a long time. I started in middle school (seventh grade), like tons of kids, then kept running track until I graduated with my bachelor’s, and I’ve tried to run six days a week during that whole time frame. I’ve had plenty of injuries along the way, but generally they’re not all that annoying — just some minor rest and whatnot.
In early...

A.J. Daulerio Begins True Gawker Reign
The bannings in the Aaron Sorkin article are ridiculous. I’d understand if it were for legitimately stupid responses, but it’s just critiques of the article. Most aren’t overly offensive or anything like that. Talk about being way too sensitive for what amounted to a stupid article. (The article’s subject matter isn’t stupid, but the article itself is.)
It’s...
Neil deGrasse Tyson is Amazing
npr:
“In 5-billion yrs the Sun will expand & engulf our orbit as the charred ember that was once Earth vaporizes. Have a nice day.” - Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson on Twitter five minutes ago. (via washingtonpoststyle)
If there was ever any doubt that Neil deGrasse Tyson is the coolest astrophysicist ever, it’s just been removed.

I Hate Job Searching
I’ve just spent an hour and a half trying to submit my application to a company’s career site only to be met with multiple errors. I tried three separate browsers, and all were met with the same errors. I double-checked my application each time, and there were no errors, yet I kept getting invalid response pop-ups.
Nothing really to say other that I’m infuriated right now. Job...

You Will Be Baked, and Then There Will be Cake
I’m just posting so I have something on my tumblr for now. This is my first time using tumblr, so I have no idea what I’m doing.
(And if anyone is reading this and wondering: yes, the title is from Portal, as is my avatar. But I doubt I’ll really be blogging about gaming.)
